Treasure Island

Treasure Island was originally serialized between 1881 and 1882 in the children's magazine Young Folks under the title The Sea Cook, before being published as a complete novel in 1883. Robert Louis Stevenson wrote the adventure as a diversion for his stepson, Lloyd Osbourne, drawing inspiration from a map he had sketched for him. The narrative became a defining work of the adventure genre, establishing the enduring archetype of the pirate story, complete with treasure maps, buried loot, and the complex character of Long John Silver.
