Universe of Scales : From Nanotechnology to Cosmology

Universe of Scales: From Nanotechnology to Cosmology, authored by Friedemann Freund and published by Springer in 2014, represents an interdisciplinary effort to bridge the gap between microscopic physical processes and large-scale astronomical phenomena. The work grew out of the author’s long-standing research into solid-state physics and the electronic behavior of minerals, seeking to explain how electrical charge carriers generated in rocks under stress might provide a foundation for understanding various geophysical and planetary observations.

The text is part of Springer's academic catalog and is designed for researchers and advanced students interested in the convergence of material science and space exploration. Its design follows the standard rigorous format of scientific monographs, focusing on the development of a theoretical framework rather than speculative narrative. Upon release, it was received as a specialized contribution to the fields of geophysics and planetary science, characterized by its attempt to synthesize disparate scales of physical inquiry into a unified conceptual model.
