White Linen Nurse

White Linen Nurse was originally authored by Eleanor Hallowell Abbott and first published in 1913. Emerging during a period when the romanticized 'nurse novel' was gaining traction in American literature, the story centers on the demanding life of a professional nurse who finds herself in a complicated entanglement with a surgeon. Abbott, who was well-regarded for her popular short fiction in magazines like The Saturday Evening Post, utilized a distinct, energetic prose style that sought to blend sentimental romance with the realities of early 20th-century medical settings.

The 2013 edition published by CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform serves as a contemporary reprint of this classic work. By making the text available through print-on-demand services, this version aims to keep Abbott's historical narrative accessible to modern readers and scholars of early feminist literature. While Abbott's work was widely read at the time of its initial release, this modern iteration preserves the original character-driven tension that defined her success as a novelist a century ago.
