Where it came from
Yo soy Eric Zimmerman, Vol. II was published in 2014 by Planeta as the direct continuation of Megan Maxwell's immensely popular erotic romance series, Pídeme lo que quieras. The novel emerged during a period of significant growth for the Spanish romance genre, following the success of the initial trilogy that introduced the complex and demanding protagonist, Eric Zimmerman. Maxwell designed this sequel to offer a deeper psychological exploration of the character's perspective, responding to reader demand for a more intimate look at his motivations and inner conflicts within the established narrative arc.
The reception of the work was strongly tied to the fervent fan base Maxwell cultivated throughout the 2010s. By shifting the viewpoint to the male lead, the author aimed to humanize a polarizing figure, blending intense romantic themes with a character-driven narrative. The book reflects the broader editorial strategy of Planeta to capitalize on the widespread commercial appetite for mature, contemporary romance fiction in the Spanish-speaking market, solidifying Maxwell's position as a prominent voice in the genre.
