Zur Erinnerung an Isaak August Dorner ... 1809-1884

Published in 1884, this memorial volume was compiled shortly after the death of Isaak August Dorner, a prominent German Protestant theologian and professor at the University of Berlin. The work serves as a formal tribute to his life and academic contributions, contextualized within the intellectual rigor of 19th-century German theology, where Dorner was widely regarded for his systematic approach to Christology and his efforts to reconcile traditional orthodoxy with modern philosophical inquiry.

The publication was designed as a scholarly retrospective, intended for colleagues, students, and institutional libraries to preserve the legacy of a man who significantly influenced the development of speculative theology. Its design adheres to the austere, sober aesthetic common to late 19th-century German academic tributes, prioritizing clarity and archival permanence over ornamentation. It was received as a respectful, definitive record of his extensive career, serving as both a biography and a summary of his theological stance at the time of his passing.
