Amaury Faye X Igor Gehenot

Released in 2022 on the Belgian label Hypnote Records, this collaborative album marks a meeting point between the distinct stylistic approaches of pianists Amaury Faye and Igor Gehenot. Born from a desire to explore the nuances of the two-piano format, the project serves as a bridge between their individual careers in the European jazz scene, capturing a series of spontaneous and composed interactions that highlight the technical proficiency and melodic sensitivity of both artists.

The album reflects the curatorial aesthetic of Hypnote Records, a label noted for supporting experimental and contemporary jazz projects that prioritize artistic collaboration over conventional commercial structures. The design and production are focused on maintaining the clarity of the acoustic piano textures, aiming to present a balanced dialogue between the two performers that avoids the clutter often found in multi-instrumental arrangements. Upon its release, it was noted primarily by European jazz publications as a disciplined exercise in harmonic interplay.
