Where it came from
The Kennedy Soundtrack, a project led by multi-instrumentalist and composer John Kennedy, emerged from a desire to blend atmospheric alternative rock with cinematic, noir-inspired soundscapes. B-Sides was released in 2018 through the label Instant Karma, acting as a companion piece to the group’s primary studio output by gathering previously unreleased tracks, demos, and experimental sketches that did not fit the narrative flow of their main albums.
The design of the collection leans into the project's minimalist and moody aesthetic, favoring stark, evocative imagery that mirrors the haunting quality of the music itself. By releasing these tracks as a standalone compilation, the band intended to provide listeners with a deeper look into their creative process, highlighting the evolution of their arrangements and the textural depth that often defined their work during this period.
