Where it came from
Released in 2000 under the Generation X Records label, B-Sides serves as a curated collection of non-album tracks and rare remixes from The Chemical Brothers. This release emerged during a period of peak prominence for the duo, capturing the raw, experimental energy that defined their big beat aesthetic throughout the late 1990s and helped push electronic dance music into the mainstream.
The collection reflects the group's collaborative spirit and their penchant for intricate layering, showcasing a blend of acid house, hip-hop, and psychedelic influences. While the design and track listing were intended to provide fans with elusive material previously buried on import singles or promotional discs, the release is often regarded by critics as a necessary archival bridge between their major studio albums, highlighting the creative evolution of Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons.
