Where it came from
Released in 1997 on the independent Blue Art Records label, this eponymous album represents a snapshot of the late nineties regional blues and roots rock scene. The project was conceived as a showcase for the band's energetic live performance style, which leaned heavily into the traditions of boogie-woogie and jump blues. It emerged during a period when smaller independent labels were increasingly vital for documenting niche acts that existed outside the commercial mainstream of major label alternative rock.
The production sought to capture the raw, unvarnished character of the band's club dates, emphasizing the interplay between Bill Billy’s guitar work and the rhythm section. While the album did not achieve broad national chart success, it served as a definitive calling card for the group, solidifying their reputation within the circuit of regional blues festivals and music venues where the band had built their primary audience.
