Billet Express

Billet Express is a self-released project by Swiss musician Karl-Alex Steffen, issued in 2005. The album serves as an exploration of Steffen's distinct approach to electronic and ambient textures, emerging from a period where independent artists increasingly utilized self-distribution models to bypass traditional record label structures. It occupies a niche space within the European experimental electronic scene, prioritizing atmospheric depth over conventional song structures.

The design and production of this CD reflect an intimate, DIY aesthetic typical of the mid-2000s self-released market. By handling the release himself, Steffen maintained complete creative control over the visual presentation, which aligns with his minimalist approach to sound design. It remains a documented piece of his personal discography, valued primarily by collectors interested in early 21st-century independent electronic music and the specific output of experimental artists operating outside the mainstream industry.
