Where it came from
Released in 2006 on the Origin Records label, Billy's Theme: A Tribute To Dr. Billy Taylor serves as a thoughtful exploration of the jazz pianist and educator’s legacy. Jessica Williams, a pianist celebrated for her technical virtuosity and deep connection to the jazz tradition, composed and performed this work to honor the profound influence of Dr. Billy Taylor on American music, particularly his lifelong commitment to jazz advocacy and education.
The album reflects Williams's approach to the piano trio format, emphasizing nuanced improvisation and heartfelt interpretation of both standards and original compositions.
