Bruno Borralhinho, Cello – Christoph Berner, Klavier

Released in 2018 by the German label Ars Produktion, this recording features cellist Bruno Borralhinho and pianist Christoph Berner in a program dedicated to late-Romantic chamber music. The album serves as a scholarly exploration of the cello sonata genre during a transformative period in Austrian and German music history, bridging the transition from the traditions of the late nineteenth century to the modernism of the early twentieth century.

The repertoire features works by Richard Strauss, Gustav Mahler, and Alexander von Zemlinsky, compositions that highlight the expressive and virtuosic potential of the cello. Borralhinho, a dedicated advocate for lesser-known chamber works, worked alongside Berner to realize these pieces with a focus on structural clarity and tonal depth. The recording was produced to high audiophile standards, typical of the Ars Produktion catalog, and was noted by critics for the duo's sensitive interpretation of these emotionally dense scores.
