Carmen Party 1 - Tentokrát S Jiřím Šlitrem A Jiřím Suchým

Released in 1991, this collection captures the enduring legacy of the Semafor theatre, a cultural cornerstone of 1960s Czechoslovakia. The record features the iconic duo of Jiří Suchý and Jiří Šlitr, whose satirical songs and jazz-infused compositions fundamentally shifted the landscape of Czech popular music. This particular release serves as a retrospective compilation, intended to reintroduce their timeless wit and melodic innovation to a post-communist audience eager to reconnect with the lighthearted yet intellectually sharp spirit of the original Semafor era.

The album reflects a specific approach to curation common in the early 1990s, where archival recordings were polished and reissued to preserve the legacy of seminal performers. Designed with a utilitarian aesthetic typical of the fledgling Carmen label, the artwork emphasizes the identity of Suchý and Šlitr as the primary attraction. The reception of such collections was largely nostalgic, functioning as a cultural bridge that solidified the duo's status as folk heroes whose contributions to the Czech cultural canon remain studied and celebrated to this day.
