Where it came from
Released in 2019 by the Brazilian label Discobertas, this CD is part of a dedicated archival effort to preserve the legacy of Carmen Silva, a prominent voice in the Brazilian popular music scene during the late 20th century. Discobertas has carved a niche by reissuing significant catalogs of Brazilian artists, often rescuing recordings that had long been out of print or relegated to obscure physical formats. This collection was curated to provide a comprehensive look at Silva's discography, appealing to fans of the 'brega' and romantic pop genres who seek high-quality restorations of mid-century recordings.
The design of this release follows the label's established aesthetic for its 'box set' or reissue series, prioritizing clear archival documentation and respect for the original source material. By focusing on the historical integrity of the tracks rather than reinterpreting the cover art or style, the label aims to satisfy serious discophiles and cultural historians. The reception has been largely positive within niche collector circles, where it is regarded as a vital reference point for understanding the evolution of romantic balladry in Brazil during the 1970s and 1980s.
