Where it came from
Released in 1997, this CD serves as the soundtrack for the film Kini and Adams, directed by Idrissa Ouédraogo. The record was produced by PolyGram to accompany the poignant narrative of the film, which explores the complex friendship between two aspiring inventors in rural Zimbabwe. As a piece of cinematic music, the release was crafted to capture the atmospheric essence of the Southern African landscape depicted on screen.
The soundtrack features the work of composer and musician Wally Badarou, known for his innovative contributions to electronic and ambient music. Badarou focused on weaving traditional textures with his signature atmospheric synth arrangements to ground the film's emotional beats. While the release remained a niche offering primarily for fans of world cinema and Badarou's discography, it is recognized for its evocative composition and its role in supporting the vision of one of African cinema's most acclaimed directors.
