Where it came from
Every Kind of Mood - Randy, Randi, Randee was released in 1997 through WEA Records as a retrospective collection highlighting the versatile vocal capabilities of American jazz and R&B singer Randy Crawford. The album was compiled to showcase the different facets of her career, spanning her smooth jazz roots, soulful ballads, and pop-oriented tracks that helped define her international success throughout the 1970s and 80s.
The album reflects the curated aesthetic of late-nineties European compilation releases, which often sought to reintroduce established artists to a new generation of listeners through thematic organization. While Crawford had long been celebrated by critics for her emotive delivery and signature tone, this collection aimed to consolidate her most accessible work, emphasizing the stylistic breadth that earned her enduring popularity in markets like the United Kingdom and across Europe.
