Het Beste Van Raymond Van Het Groenewoud

Released in 2003 under the Capitol Records label, this compilation serves as a retrospective of the enduring career of Raymond van het Groenewoud, a pivotal figure in the Flemish music scene. The collection was curated to distill decades of work into a single volume, capturing the wit, linguistic playfulness, and melodic sensibility that established van het Groenewoud as a primary architect of modern Dutch-language pop and rock since the mid-1970s.

The album design reflects a mid-career synthesis, aiming to provide both long-time devotees and new listeners with an accessible roadmap of the artist's discography. By focusing on his most resonant tracks, the record reinforces his reputation as a master of the Dutch-language chanson and rock anthem. Upon its release, it was well-received as a definitive entry point for understanding the cultural weight of an artist whose work frequently oscillates between melancholy introspection and satirical social commentary.
