Ignacio Corsini "El Caballero Cantor" En FM Tango

Released in 1994 by EMI, this compilation is part of the 'En FM Tango' series, which sought to reintroduce classic Argentine tango vocalists to a new generation of listeners through the lens of radio-friendly, remastered archival recordings. Ignacio Corsini, known as 'El Caballero Cantor' or the Gentleman Singer, remains a cornerstone of the genre, celebrated for his distinctively crisp diction and refined, aristocratic delivery that moved tango away from its rougher origins toward a polished, lyrical sophistication.

The selection for this collection focuses on the height of Corsini's career in the 1920s and 1930s, featuring his signature blend of tango and traditional Argentine folk styles known as estilo. Designed with the minimalist, functional aesthetics common to mid-90s label retrospectives, the packaging prioritizes archival accessibility. At the time of its release, the project was received as a respectful effort to preserve the sonic fidelity of Corsini's extensive discography for the digital era, ensuring his legacy as one of the 'great three' of tango alongside Gardel and Magaldi remained accessible to modern audiences.
