Where it came from
Released in 2002, this self-titled CD stands as a rare independent project by Finnish musician Kari Rautio. In the context of the early 2000s, this release reflects the burgeoning trend of artists utilizing personal home-studio production and small-batch manufacturing to bypass traditional record label structures, allowing for complete creative control over their musical output.
The album serves as a document of Rautio's individual artistic vision during this period. As an independent production, the design aesthetic is minimalist and functional, prioritizing the dissemination of the music over elaborate commercial packaging. The work is largely understood within the scope of niche Nordic independent music, appreciated by those who follow Rautio’s specific trajectory as an artist operating outside the mainstream industry.
