Where it came from
Released in 2018 by BGO Records, this CD reissue compiles the solo work of Matthew Fisher, the organist best known for his iconic contribution to Procol Harum's A Whiter Shade of Pale. This release serves as an archival effort to preserve his post-Procol Harum output, specifically gathering tracks from an era when Fisher was refining his craft as a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist independent of his former band's progressive rock shadow.
The design of this release adheres to the standard professional aesthetic of the BGO Records catalog, which frequently licenses and remasters classic albums for a dedicated collector market. By bringing these tracks into the digital age, the reissue provides a window into the 1970s singer-songwriter scene in Britain. The reception has been largely confined to a niche audience of Procol Harum enthusiasts and fans of 1970s soft rock who value Fisher's distinctive keyboard arrangements and understated vocal style.
