Where it came from
Released in 2016 on the Portrait label, this collection features guitarist Fabio Angelini performing interpretations of works by the celebrated Italian composer Ludovico Einaudi. The project emerged from the enduring popularity of Einaudi's minimalist piano compositions, which have frequently been adapted for various acoustic instruments to highlight their melodic and atmospheric qualities.
The album serves as a specialized tribute to Einaudi's extensive catalog, with the arrangements focusing on the intimate tonal possibilities of the guitar. By selecting key tracks that define Einaudi's signature neoclassical style, Angelini sought to translate the emotive, cinematic resonance of the original piano pieces into a different acoustic vocabulary, catering to listeners who appreciate cross-genre interpretations of contemporary classical music.
