Where it came from
Next One In Line was released in 1993 on the independent label Flamingo Soup, marking a collaborative effort between Thomas K. Hunter and Steve Lehmann. The album emerged during a period of experimentation within the independent music scene, reflecting a blend of folk and acoustic sensibilities that were gaining traction in small-venue circuits at the time.
The production sought to capture an intimate, raw aesthetic that emphasized songwriting over polished studio effects. While the release remains a niche entry in the landscape of early nineties independent music, it is frequently cited by collectors of the Flamingo Soup catalog as a definitive example of the label’s commitment to capturing authentic, stripped-back performances from artists navigating the transition from local stages to broader distribution.
