Planet B was released in 2020 on the Edition Records label, marking a distinct evolution in the work of the Danish-born, London-based double bassist and composer Jasper Høiby. Emerging from his established reputation as a leader of the Phronesis trio, this project represents Høiby’s shift toward a more electronic and loop-based exploration of jazz. The music was conceived to address global ecological and social challenges, with the compositions serving as a sonic reflection on the state of the planet and the necessity for systemic change.

The album is noted for its blend of acoustic bass virtuosity with nuanced electronic processing and collaborative input from saxophonist Josh Arcoleo and drummer Marc Michel.
