Spaghetti-Pizza And Psychedelic

Spaghetti-Pizza And Psychedelic was released in 2003 by the Italian label Magma Records as part of a trend of retrospective compilations focusing on European library music and psychedelic pop from the late 1960s and 1970s. The collection was curated to showcase the quirkier side of the Italian underground scene, specifically highlighting tracks that bridged the gap between cinematic lounge music and experimental rock production. It emerged during a period of renewed interest in vintage Italian soundtracks, often sourced from obscure recording sessions intended for film and television broadcast rather than commercial chart success.

The album's design draws heavily from the aesthetic of 1970s Italian exploitation and giallo cinema posters, utilizing saturated colors and stylized typography to evoke a nostalgic, retro-futuristic mood. It was intended for a niche audience of crate-diggers, DJs, and collectors of European rare grooves. Upon its release, the compilation was well-received within the global funk and lounge revival circles, serving as an entry point for many listeners looking to explore the deeper catalog of Italian library music beyond the more famous works of composers like Ennio Morricone or Piero Piccioni.
