Where it came from
Released in 2013 on the Multisonic label, this collaborative album brought together the Štveráček Quartet—led by saxophonist Jan Štveráček—and the renowned Fečo musical family, a prominent fixture in the Czech jazz scene. The recording represents a synthesis of traditional jazz sensibilities and the specific technical interplay fostered by a multi-generational ensemble, rooted in the long-standing improvisational traditions of Prague's jazz community.
The album reflects a deliberate approach to mainstream acoustic jazz, prioritizing melodic clarity and tight-knit arrangements typical of the Central European jazz style during the early 2010s. Produced as a vehicle for the group's collective chemistry, the work was received as a straightforward, professional entry into the domestic jazz catalog, highlighting the versatility of the Fečo family’s contributions to post-bop and swing-inflected compositions.
