Where it came from
TH_X was released in 2017 by the Austrian independent label Chmafu Nocords, known for its focus on experimental music, sound art, and field recordings. The collaboration between Austrian sound artist Daniel Lercher and Norwegian trombonist Henrik Munkeby Nørstebø explores the intersections of electroacoustic improvisation and instrumental extended techniques, reflecting a shared interest in the textures of silence and controlled resonance.
The album serves as a document of a specific period of dialogue between Lercher’s processed electronic soundscapes and Nørstebø’s unorthodox approach to the trombone. The design of the release adheres to the label’s characteristic minimalist aesthetic, emphasizing the raw material of the recording over elaborate graphic presentation, which aligns with the duo's intent to center the listener's focus entirely on the microscopic shifts within their sonic architecture.
