The Daniel Vitale Quartet

The Daniel Vitale Quartet self-titled CD was released in 1992 as an independent project by jazz pianist and composer Daniel Vitale. At a time when self-production was becoming increasingly accessible for independent jazz artists, this release served as a personal documentation of the quartet's collaborative performances. It reflects the post-bop sensibilities prevalent in the early 1990s jazz scene, emphasizing intricate ensemble interplay and the improvisational spirit of the working band.

The album was produced outside the traditional major label structure, a common route for artists aiming for creative autonomy during this period. The design and presentation prioritize the music itself, offering an intimate look at the quartet's specific repertoire. While it remains a niche recording within the broader landscape of 1990s independent jazz, it stands as a testament to the dedication required for artists to document their work without institutional support.
