Provenance

Where it came from

The Essential Eric Carmen was released in 2014 as part of Sony Music's long-running Essential series, which focuses on compiling comprehensive retrospective collections for legacy artists. The compilation was designed to consolidate the multifaceted career of the former Raspberries frontman, tracing his transition from the power-pop explosion of the early 1970s to his prolific solo run as a balladeer in the late 1970s and 1980s.

The collection features remastered tracks that bridge the gap between his hard-hitting hits like Go All the Way and the sweeping, radio-friendly piano pop of tracks such as All by Myself and Hungry Eyes. It serves as a definitive archival piece for collectors, curated to highlight the sophisticated songcraft and production polish that defined Carmen’s tenure at Arista Records and his enduring influence on soft rock and power pop genres.
