Where it came from
The Henningsens EP was released in 2013 as a promotional introduction to the family trio comprised of Brian Henningsen and his children, Clara and Aaron. Coming out of the Nashville country music scene, the group gained industry attention primarily through their songwriting success, most notably co-writing The Band Perry's chart-topping hit If I Die Young. Arista Nashville issued this EP to bridge their established reputation as writers with their emergence as performing artists.
The design and sonic direction of the EP leaned into a polished, contemporary country-folk aesthetic, emphasizing three-part vocal harmonies and organic instrumentation. It was crafted to showcase the group's songwriting pedigree and their capability for radio-friendly storytelling. Upon release, the project served as a foundational document for their sound, though it was largely overshadowed by the commercial success they continued to enjoy as songwriters for other prominent country acts.
