The TJC Returns!

The TJC Returns! was released in 2006 by Little Simmy Records, serving as a showcase for Kevin Dorn's Traditional Jazz Collective. The project was conceived to celebrate the enduring spirit of classic jazz ensembles, focusing on the spontaneous energy and technical proficiency inherent in the tradition. By assembling a group of accomplished musicians, Dorn sought to capture the lively, improvisational interplay that defined early jazz recordings while utilizing contemporary production standards to ensure sonic clarity.

The album serves as a testament to the collective's commitment to period-authentic arrangements, drawing heavy inspiration from the New Orleans jazz revival movement. Musicians and arrangers involved in the project aimed for a balance between historical reverence and modern performance vitality, prioritizing ensemble cohesion over individual grandstanding. Upon its release, the record was well-received by traditional jazz enthusiasts and critics who noted the group's ability to maintain stylistic integrity while providing a fresh take on standard jazz repertoire.
