Provenance

Where it came from

The Trois-Rivières Metalfest Compilation Volume 12 was released by Galy Records in 2012 to coincide with the annual festival held in Quebec. This event has long served as a cornerstone of the Canadian heavy metal scene, providing a dedicated stage for both underground local acts and established international names to reach a committed community of fans. The compilation was designed as a promotional tool, showcasing a cross-section of the artists slated to perform at the festival that year, thereby bridging the gap between the live experience and studio output.

The design of the compilation follows the functional aesthetic typical of early 2010s extreme metal compilations, prioritizing the festival's branding and the inclusion of diverse sub-genres ranging from thrash to death metal. By curating a mix of tracks from the roster, Galy Records aimed to offer a snapshot of the festival's eclectic atmosphere. It was received primarily by the local metal subculture as a keepsake of the specific 2012 gathering, reflecting the independent spirit and DIY ethos that has characterized the Trois-Rivières Metalfest throughout its existence.
