Where it came from
Released in 2006 by Universal Music Austria, Uwe!!! Das Beste Aus 20 Jahren! serves as a definitive retrospective of the German musical theater star Uwe Kröger. The compilation was curated to commemorate his two-decade career, featuring a selection of tracks that highlight his contributions to iconic productions such as Elisabeth, Mozart!, and Les Misérables. The release was intended to provide fans with a high-quality collection of studio recordings that captured his transition from a rising talent to one of the most recognized figures in the German-speaking musical landscape.
The album's design and track selection reflect a maturation in Kröger's performance style, focusing on the dramatic range that made him a central figure in the European theater circuit during the 1990s and 2000s. Critics and audiences generally received the collection as a nostalgic tribute to the golden age of original German-language musical theater productions. By gathering disparate recordings from various stage soundtracks and concert performances, Universal Music aimed to create a cohesive narrative of Kröger's artistic journey, solidifying his status as a leading man within the industry.
