Where it came from
Released in 2012 on the independent label Noir Carrousel, Vanguardismortem stands as a defining artifact of the dark industrial and experimental electronic intersection that characterized the early 2010s underground scene. The collaborative project between Vanguard and Mortem was conceived as a sonic exploration of transition and decay, drawing heavily from avant-garde soundscapes and rhythmic industrial aesthetics to challenge conventional electronic structures.
The album's visual identity, managed by the creative collective associated with Noir Carrousel, emphasizes a minimalist, stark aesthetic that mirrors the abrasive, atmospheric quality of the music itself. Upon its debut, the record was met with quiet recognition within niche electronic music communities, appreciated primarily by enthusiasts of harsh textures and conceptual sound design who valued the project's departure from mainstream dance-floor tropes.
