Vital Sein - Vital Bleiben

Vital Sein - Vital Bleiben was released in 1997 on the Spectrum label, a budget-friendly subsidiary of PolyGram known for repackaging and reissuing catalog recordings. The album serves as a curated collection of tracks performed by Max Greger, a German jazz musician and bandleader who enjoyed immense popularity as a conductor for ZDF television orchestras. This compilation was crafted to capture the light, accessible big-band sound that defined Greger's middle-to-late career, catering to a demographic that valued nostalgic, easy-listening arrangements.

The design of the album adheres to the standard aesthetic of the Spectrum series, prioritizing functional, clear presentation over experimental art. By the late 1990s, Greger had become a household name in Germany, synonymous with the 'Tanzorchester' tradition. This release was positioned as a low-cost entry point into his extensive discography, allowing listeners to enjoy his polished, professional interpretations of popular standards and light jazz classics that had been refined over decades of broadcast work.
