Released in 2018, this recording represents the third volume in an ambitious series by the Polish label Acte Préalable to document the complete solo piano works of the French Romantic composer Théodore Dubois. Dubois, a prominent figure in the Parisian musical landscape of the late 19th century and a former director of the Conservatoire de Paris, created a body of work that is often characterized by its meticulous craftsmanship and adherence to formal elegance, reflecting the sensibilities of the French academic tradition of his era.

The performance is provided by the Brazilian pianist Artur Cimirro, who has become a key interpreter for the label's exhaustive survey of this repertoire.
