1 Dollar - Charles III (First Portrait - Emu - Silver Bullion Coin)

The 2024 Australian 1 Dollar silver bullion coin marks a significant transition in numismatic history, serving as one of the first official bullion releases to feature the definitive portrait of King Charles III. Struck by the Perth Mint, this coin continues the long-standing tradition of the Australian Silver Emu series, which has garnered a dedicated following among investors and collectors for its high-purity silver content and distinct wildlife motifs.

The portrait of King Charles III depicted on the obverse was designed by Dan Thorne, a talented engraver at the Royal Mint in London. His design captures a dignified profile of the monarch, aligning with the longstanding Commonwealth tradition of royal coinage. The reverse features the recurring artistic theme of the emu, Australia’s national bird, rendered with the crisp detailing that characterizes the Perth Mint's bullion program. Upon its release, the coin was received as a milestone piece, blending historical continuity with the contemporary aesthetic standards of modern bullion production.
