100 Francs (Buffalo)

The 100 Francs Buffalo coin is part of a series of collector coins issued under the authority of the Republic of Cameroon, reflecting the regional currency system of the Communaute Financiere Africaine. These pieces are produced primarily for the numismatic market, utilizing motifs of African wildlife to highlight the continent's diverse natural heritage. The choice of the buffalo serves as a symbolic representation of strength and resilience within the savanna ecosystem, a common theme for commemorative coinage originating from the region during this period.

The design of this issue follows a contemporary aesthetic, blending high-relief artistry with standard metallic currency specifications. Such coins are typically minted in precious metals or durable alloys to appeal to international collectors interested in wildlife iconography. While these coins circulate nominally within the CFA franc zone, they are generally acquired by enthusiasts as aesthetic keepsakes rather than for daily commercial transactions, earning them a place in thematic collections focused on zoological art.
