Where it came from
2-Nen B-Gumi: Yūsha Destroyers is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Ryo Fujisaki, first serialized in Square Enix's Monthly Gangan Wing in 2006. The series acts as a satirical subversion of the traditional fantasy role-playing game narrative, centering on a group of students in a 'hero-training' class who find the reality of being a hero to be far more mundane and bureaucratic than the legendary status they anticipated.
The character design and visual style reflect the aesthetic trends of mid-2000s shonen manga, balancing comedic slapstick with stylistic action sequences. Fujisaki utilized the school-setting trope to contrast the epic nature of fantasy tropes with the daily grievances of adolescent students, receiving moderate critical attention for its irreverent tone and its role within the broader lineup of Gangan Wing’s experimental humor-based titles.
