Where it came from
Adventure Comics #300, published in September 1962, serves as a significant milestone in DC Comics history as the title reached its 300th issue. During this period, the series was the primary home for the Legion of Super-Heroes, a group of teenage super-powered beings from the 30th century that had become increasingly popular with readers. The issue was produced under the editorial guidance of Mort Weisinger, who was instrumental in shaping the expanded mythology of the Superman mythos during the Silver Age of comics.
The cover and interior were crafted by artists who defined the look of DC's science-fiction output at the time, most notably featuring the work of John Forte and Jim Mooney. The story, written by Jerry Siegel, was designed to showcase the scope of the Legion's roster and their futuristic adventures, reflecting the optimistic, high-concept style prevalent in 1960s comic books. The issue was well-received by fans of the era, solidifying the Legion's status as a central pillar of the Adventure Comics line.
