Akuyaku Reijō wa Daikōkai Jidai wo Goshomō Desu #1

Akuyaku Reijō wa Daikōkai Jidai wo Goshomō Desu, or 'The Villainess Wants a Life of Great Navigation,' debuted as a light novel series before transitioning into manga form. The narrative centers on a protagonist reincarnated into an otome game world who chooses to pursue a life of exploration and seafaring rather than the traditional romantic tropes of the genre. This volume serves as the introductory chapter for the manga adaptation, illustrating the shift in focus from courtly intrigue to the challenges of maritime life and merchant trade.

The character design and visual tone were crafted to emphasize a sense of adventure, balancing the aesthetic conventions of the 'villainess' subgenre with elements inspired by the Age of Discovery. By pivoting the setting toward naval exploration, the series offers a thematic departure from the typical academy-bound settings common in Japanese fantasy light novels and manga of this period. Upon its release, it was received as a creative expansion of the isekai subgenre, appealing to readers interested in trade simulation and historical adventure motifs.
