Where it came from
Albedo number two was published in 1984 by Thoughts and Images, emerging from the burgeoning independent comic book scene of the early eighties. This anthology series served as a vital platform for creator-owned works, providing a venue for experimental storytelling and diverse artistic styles that differed significantly from the mainstream superhero output of the era.
The issue is most notably recognized for featuring early chapters of Steve Gallacci's 'Ermine,' a work that is widely credited with establishing the foundational aesthetic and thematic tropes of the anthropomorphic fiction genre. Gallacci’s design work was characterized by a grounded, technical approach to character anatomy and setting, which resonated strongly with readers and solidified the series as a cult touchstone in independent publishing.
