All-Star Squadron #46

All-Star Squadron #46, published by DC Comics in June 1987, was part of a series created by Roy Thomas to explore the stories of DC's Golden Age characters during the Second World War. By the mid-1980s, the series was navigating the complex narrative landscape established by the Crisis on Infinite Earths, which fundamentally reshaped DC's multiverse and historical continuity. This issue reflects the late-run tone of the series, where Thomas sought to maintain the integrity of vintage character dynamics even as the publisher transitioned toward more modern, streamlined editorial standards.

The issue features artwork consistent with the series' established aesthetic, which prioritized a nostalgic, classic comic book style to match the period setting of the early 1940s. While All-Star Squadron was initially praised for its meticulous attention to continuity and its affectionate tribute to the Justice Society of America, by the time of issue #46, the title was approaching its conclusion. It remains a notable piece for collectors interested in the post-Crisis transition period and the conclusion of Roy Thomas's long-running historical project.
