Amanojaku na Joreikagyō #1

Amanojaku na Joreikagyō, or 'The Perverse Exorcist Business,' is a manga series created by the artist known as Gaku. First serialized in the mid-2010s, the series emerged from the Japanese seinen demographic, blending elements of supernatural horror, dark comedy, and character-driven drama. The narrative centers on a protagonist who defies the traditional, heroic archetypes of the exorcism genre, reflecting a modern trend toward more cynical or socially detached leads in niche manga publications.

The character design and visual tone were crafted to emphasize a sense of grounded, urban grit contrasted against surreal, ethereal threats. Gaku’s illustration style utilizes stark line work and atmospheric shading to build tension within the mundane settings where the protagonist operates. Upon its release, the first issue was noted by readers for its subversive take on established folklore tropes, finding a dedicated following among fans of unconventional occult storytelling.
