Amir und der Geschmack von Heimat #1

Amir und der Geschmack von Heimat #1 was created as a sociopolitical comic project, published in Germany to foster empathy and cultural exchange regarding the experience of refugees. The narrative follows the protagonist, Amir, a young man who navigates the complexities of arriving in a new country, using the sensory language of food and shared recipes to bridge the gap between his origins and his new environment.

The visual storytelling is characterized by a warm, illustrative style that emphasizes emotional resonance over purely didactic instruction. By centering the domestic and culinary aspects of integration, the series aimed to provide a relatable human perspective on migration that resonated with both schools and broader readerships. It was recognized for its ability to humanize the statistical debates surrounding migration, serving as both an educational resource and a piece of contemporary graphic literature.
