Angel #14

Angel #14, published by Dark Horse Comics in 2012, serves as the second installment in the 'After the Fall' epilogue arc, titled 'Aftermath.' Following the conclusion of the massive crossover event that continued the narrative of the Joss Whedon television series, this issue was tasked with resetting the status quo for the titular character. The creative team, led by writer David Tischman and artist Garry Brown, sought to ground the protagonist in a more contained, noir-inspired setting after the high-stakes, supernatural melodrama of the preceding story arcs.

The visual direction for this period of the series shifted toward a grittier, more atmospheric aesthetic, departing from the house style that defined the initial Dark Horse run. Critics at the time noted that while the transition between major narrative arcs often presented a challenge for continuity, this issue succeeded in re-establishing Angel's solitary investigative role. It stands as a transitional piece of media, reflecting the broader industry trend of the early 2010s where licensed comic properties were utilized to maintain fan engagement long after the original television broadcasts concluded.
