Aquaman #14

Published in March 1964, Aquaman #14 arrived during the Silver Age of Comic Books, a period marked by a revitalization of DC Comics' superhero roster. This issue was part of the ongoing series that had spun out of the character's long tenure in 'Adventure Comics,' reflecting the publisher's push to solidify Aquaman's identity as a solo lead. It represents a time when writers were experimenting with the tone of Atlantis, blending traditional sea-faring adventure tropes with the increasingly imaginative, science-fiction-inspired narrative style typical of the era.

The creative team for this period famously included writer Jack Miller and artist Nick Cardy, whose contributions were instrumental in defining the visual language of the series. Cardy, in particular, was celebrated for his dynamic layouts and expressive character work, which helped elevate Aquaman from a supporting player to a compelling protagonist. The issue was received as part of a wider effort to build a distinct supporting cast and rogues' gallery for the hero, a project that is now regarded as a foundational chapter in the character's long-term development.
