Aquaman #13

Aquaman #13, published in early 1964, emerged during the height of the Silver Age of comic books. At this time, the character was being shepherded by writer Jack Miller and artist Nick Cardy, who was instrumental in defining the polished, adventurous aesthetic of the era. The issue was produced as part of a sustained push by DC Comics to solidify Aquaman's status as a formidable solo hero, moving beyond his origins as a secondary character in the More Fun Comics anthology.

Nick Cardy's work on this series is frequently cited by historians for its clean, dynamic linework and expressive character portraits. The stories of this period were designed to balance lighthearted undersea exploration with escalating dramatic threats, reflecting the broader industry trend of establishing complex mythologies for core superheroes. The issue was received as a quintessential piece of 1960s DC continuity, contributing to the foundational lore of Atlantis that continues to influence modern interpretations of the character.
