Atashi ni wa Suki na Hito ga Iru #1

Atashi ni wa Suki na Hito ga Iru, authored by mangaka Clamp, debuted in the late 1990s as a concise romance narrative. Published by Kadokawa Shoten, the series emerged during a prolific era for the collective, following their massive successes with Cardcaptor Sakura and Magic Knight Rayearth. This particular volume introduces the central themes of youthful longing and the complex emotional landscape of high school relationships, hallmarks of the shōjo genre that Clamp explored with their characteristic elegance and focus on interpersonal dynamics.

The design of the volume reflects the studio's evolving aesthetic in the late 90s, characterized by delicate linework and an expressive approach to character layout. As part of their broader body of work, the series is noted for its character-driven storytelling rather than the expansive world-building seen in their fantasy titles. It was received by readers as a grounded, intimate project, showcasing Clamp’s versatility in balancing high-concept fantasy with the subtle, quiet developments of everyday romance.
