Batman / Superman / Wonder Woman: Trinity #1

Released in 2003, Batman/Superman/Wonder Woman: Trinity #1 was written and illustrated by Matt Wagner. This three-issue prestige format miniseries was designed to establish a canonical first meeting between DC Comics' primary triad of heroes, grounding their initial alliance within the early years of their respective crime-fighting careers. Wagner sought to harmonize the disparate tones of the three characters while paying homage to the classic Golden Age archetypes that defined their individual origins.

The series was received as a definitive retelling of the trio's formative alliance, noted for Wagner’s bold, angular art style and his focus on the tactical friction between the characters. By situating the narrative shortly after Batman's emergence and Superman's arrival in Metropolis, the work serves as both a standalone adventure and a bridge between the characters' solo mythologies, solidifying the dynamic that would eventually lead to the formation of the Justice League.
