Batman / Superman / Wonder Woman: Trinity #2

Released in 2003, this miniseries was written and illustrated by Matt Wagner, marking a return to the foundational roots of DC Comics' premier superheroes. The project was designed to explore the first time Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman teamed up, bridging the narrative gap between their individual early years and their eventual status as a global alliance. Wagner sought to strip away decades of accumulated continuity to present a clean, classic aesthetic that honored the archetypal nature of the DC Trinity.

The series was received as a respectful homage to the golden and silver age depictions of these characters, characterized by Wagner's distinctively bold, clean lines and stark use of shadow. While it functions as a standalone origin story, the work is noted for establishing a tense, evolving dynamic between the three heroes that defines their early interpersonal conflicts. It remains a staple for collectors interested in how modern creators distill the essence of iconic characters into a concise, self-contained vision.
